RealMap Overview:

RealTimeSites moved into web based GIS applications in 2007 by building, supporting, and hosting the Road Advisory System for New Mexico Department of Transportation. The project involved building a flex application to display the map of New Mexico with road closures, road construction, and other advisories displayed as icons on the map. When hovering over an icon, a window pops up to display full information about the advisory. Department of Transportation staff login securely to post advisories. Upon posting, the advisory is displayed on the map in real time. The project was success during the 2007-2008 winter season.

In 2008, RealTimeSites is upgrading the application for the map to be run on dual ArcGIS servers. This gives RealTimeSites more flexibility on managing the content on the map. Video of a number of roadways in New Mexico will be incorporated into the map. This will benefit New Mexico residents during the winter season to view the conditions of roadways before going out on them. The new release will be implemented in November, 2008. Be sure to check it out at nmroads.com.
